Do you serve your homemade bread with a pitchfork?

So here we are...day 2, week 2 of school. I homeschool my kids and I work outside the home part time. I'm not on medication, but I'm sure I should be. As it is, I live on Rockstar Rehab, Monster Lo carb and Diet Coke to get through the days. Melatonin and Sleepy Time Tea are the go-tos to try to turn off the ol' brain at night. Yeah, it doesn't work. It just perpetuates a vicious cycle. But, hey, I could be strung out on diet pills and valium, so I digress. I use online classes mixed with book work and I actually teach some lessons. The days I am working we talk about he lessons they did that day and anything they are not "getting" we cover on days I'm not working. It's not perfect, but it works for us. Yes, I am stressed. Yes, I wonder if I am giving them the best education. Yes, I want to quit work everyday. Unfortunately, the mail carrier doesn't want to quit delivering bills to my house. I am amazed at the groups online with these super mom...
Is it possible to have  "Holiday Hangover" after just one holiday? My house still smells like turkey, my tummy is still too full of stuffing to move comfortably, my legs and feet are still achy from hours and hours of standing in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove and yet I'm suppossed to be ready to jump up and stand in line for hours in the cold to buy an off-brand TV for $1.00! People, I just don't get it. I have done the whole Black Friday thing a couple times. Honestly, I never found any deals that were good enough to risk getting trampled by a pack of ravenous slack jaws outside the Wal-mart! Anything I wanted was sold out or had been damaged by the onslaught. I do have friends who make a huge event out of it every year and they have the whole family involved and they love it! Good For them!! I would prefer my warm bed, a left over turkey sandwich and my computer for Cyber-Monday!! Shopping in my pajamas and house slippers with a sandwich....actually, it...

Are You Ready For Some Football????

Football in the South. Particularly SEC football in the South. I have grown to love it. This didn't happen over night. I wasn't raised in a football household. My dad wasn't a sports guy at all. Since I had no one around that was a sports fan, I never knew what I was missing. I also never learned the rules of the game. That makes it kinda hard to get into when you have no idea what 2nd & 5 at the 20 even means. Because I didn't understand the game, I couldn't enjoy it. I was always put off by those loud, obnoxious, trash talking female sports fans. I was so thankful that I was above such behavior. My husband LOVES football. One of his many passions, but I would say the one he loves the most. It has taken years of being married to a screaming, jumping, fist pumping, hat throwing, cursing man for me to learn to love it, too. But it wasn't easy. I finally started asking questions as I was forced to sit through Saturday and Sunday afternoon games that made n...

Can I get a little fish pee?

Hunting season is upon us here in the great state of Florida. My husband has been a life long fisherman, and he is pretty darn good at it, too! It is lots of fun to take the kids to the beach and fish from the shore, or out in the St. John's river in his boat. He is usually quite successful and we always have lots of fish in the freezer. A few years ago, his long time fishing buddy became interested in hunting, therefore, my husband became interested in hunting. He already had thousands of dollars worth of rods and reels and tackle and nets. All of which was required to make him such a great fisherman. Now he has all the gear and gadgets for archery, general gun and muzzle loading seasons. OK, so I'm not sure exactly what all that means, but he has a huge camo bag that he fills with all kinds of gear. Heaven forbid he drop anything in the woods because everything is camo and he wouldn't find it in a billion years. I guess if he can't see it, the animals can't see ...

Do Squirrels Hibernate?

It seems that every time I have a few days off from working my part time job that one or both of my kids come down with "something". Ryan has had a fever the last 2 mornings. Not enough to make him really sick, but enough to turn him into a very whiny and grumpy almost 14 year old infant. I see that he is taking after his father.  sigh On the other hand, I was able to get both boys through their lessons, 3 loads of laundry washed and dried, do the dishes from last night, and get dinner in the oven and ready to go. I even had time for a shower and to shave my legs. They were bad enough that I had to chase away a small squirrel that wanted to hibernate on my shin this winter. Hmm.. Do squirrels hibernate? They are everywhere here in Florida, but now that I think about it, I cant recall if I see them in winter. I bet I will be thinking of that tonight when I can't sleep. Of course the entire time I have been off work I have fallen asleep super early and woke up before my c...

Hi! My name is Misty. Longtime reader, first time blogger..

So..this is blogging. Perhaps I will start with a little about me. I am almost 40...GASP!!! I am happily married with 2 boys. I work part time as a Medical Assistant for a very busy OBGYN practice and I homeschool my children. Yeah, I'm on medication..LOL. But seriously Folks... I was born and raised in The Sunshine State, and NO I am not tan or blond. I am also a Mormon, and No, I don't have any "Sister Wives".  No, we don't have 8 kids or a years supply of food in a bunker under our house. I love the comments and questions that I get from people on those first meetings. Bless their hearts... Yes, that is a very Southern thing for me to say, y'all. I have a wonderful family, love them all, even the odd nut job floating through the gene pool.
